If your knees are in good shape, running will help you lose weight faster as you would burn more calories than with biking. With running though you should begin a program where you increase your distance slowly day by day. Even walking then running in short spurts at first will help you gain strength. It's also a good idea to alternate your cardio with strength training on alternate days. By gaining more muscle, your metabolism and endurance will increase and your body will be more toned.
