Is there any way for a 13 year old to lose weight, fast as possible, without pills or risks. Please?

Heart Keep

I'm about 40 pounds overweight now.
It's starting to get depressing. I can't take pills to lose weight because I'm 13 and because my mom would have a FIT. So since that's settled... How is the QUICKEST way to LOSE WEIGHT WITHOUT RISKS OR PILLS? And without wasting money...?

So any way to lose weight that's:
1) quick
2) affective
3) easy
4) no risks
5) no pills
6) no money (like no monthly or yearly payments or anything.)

I'm trying to impress this guy, but I really look ugly. Please help, how do I lose weight?!?!? :*(
Like...
ex. how many pushups a day. how many jumping jacks a day. how many pull ups.
I have an abcircle pro thing. how many minutes do i use tht for? like 3 minutes EVERYday? or just 1 after every meal?
how many times do I run up/down stairs. and when? after every meal? every day?
HELP ASAP
PSSS ... im not allowed to walk to school, walk around stores, or hike.
the biggest walking space is between my church and my house :/

Answer
Check a BMI calculator to determine how much weight you need to lose to be "normal."

http://www.aarp.org/health/healthylivingâ¦

You should find exercise that fits into your daily routine, like walking to school, bicycling to the grocery store, and hiking through a local park. Try to perform these moderate exercise activities for at least an hour every day. Eat more fruits and vegetables, since these are both filling and filled with the nutrients that your body needs.

Let me give you a summary of my meals in a typical day:

Breakfast: A high-fiber cup of oatmeal, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. A pint of coffee or green tea.

Alternatively, a high-protein scrambled egg with an Anaheim or Pasadilla pepper, a handful of mushrooms, and half-cup of cheese, with a topping of Greek or Italian spices. Two bananas.

Lunch: Snacking and a meal at work is one orange and two apples; ten-grain, flax-meal, psillium home-made crackers with a half-cup of spreadable soft feta; a half-cup of cinnamon-sugar almonds; a pint of coffee; a quart of water.

Alternatively, a soup of clam chowder with a half-cup of added mixed seafood such as clams and octopus or split pea soup; dried figs and apricots to satisfy hunger between meals; a half-cup of cayenne-coated sunflower seeds; a quart of water.

Dinner: A half-head of lettuce with thousand island or blue cheese dressing. Two bananas with a glass of milk. Two cups of herbal tea.

Alternatively, a high-fiber, multi-grain and flax meal pasta with red sauce, adding mushrooms, peppers, bok choi, and a few black olives. Another meal is stir-fry vegetables in a ginger terriyaki or vegetable spring rolls with duck sauce. A cup of brown rice or wild rice, not a true rice, as a high-fiber side dish is very filling with green tea or herbal tea.

My daily exercise routine is 16 miles of biking, unless the weather is nasty. If the weather is bad, I run 4 miles a day with a backpack. On my days off work, I usually hike about 5 miles in winter due to snow on my paths and 10 miles in summer. Try to do at least an hour of moderate exercise per day, which can be a commute to pick-up groceries, get to work or school, or a hike in a park or neighborhood.

Check a BMI calculator to set your weight goal. Your BMI should be between 19 and 25.

The best colon cleaners: strawberries, bananas, oatmeal, apples, psyllium husk powder, and flax meal. If these do not work, try a cheap laxative like generic calcium polycarbophil or sennosides. If you still want to pay more for roughly the same effects, try "Acai Berry Cleanse" or Cellular Research Formula "Colon Clear" and "Total Body Purifier." Buy a juicer and pulp apples and other fruits. Make vegetarian stir fry and serve over rice. All of these are safe and effective purifiers.

1 t. Italian or Greek spices

Trying to figure out how to go car-less....Advice?

Jayda K.

I am a mom and full time student. I live 10 miles away from campus, and my mother baby-sits for me during school, and lives only 1 mile away. We are a military family and my husband is going to be in another state, with our car, during the spring semester. Weather in Utah is terrible this time of year, so cycling to school, the store, errands, and to drop off baby is not safe or practical. I also do not think it wise to cart a 1 year old around on the back of a bike in the snow and ice. (I don't even know if there are bikes made for that.) So options are:

New second car: greatly increase costs. We really can't afford a new car. So this would be going to into debt.

Buy a used car with savings: Cheaper without monthly car payment, but still need to pay for gas, registration, maintenance, insurance....the works.

Find a way to get by car-less: inconvenient and impractical, saves loads of money, better for the environment, better exercise.

Any advice on how to do this would be greatly appreciated!
By the way, the bus system where I live is ok, but it will add a great amount of time, as well as strain on my mother's schedule if I used it to get to school. Its doable, but I'm looking for a shorter commute time, if there are any other options available. Thanks!

Answer
You might be able to carpool. Its easier if you know people willing to, but you could also make a post on your school's facebook, ask around, etc. Other than that its more or less whether you care more about convenience or cost. Bus or carpool are both going to have fairly large inconvenience, but is it worth not going into debt?

You could also rent a car for the semester. Still have to pay insurance and whatnot, but way cheaper than buying even a used.

Exercise Bike?

coder

Dose the Exercise bike help to lose wight from the upper side of the body? if yes, is it as the same level as the lower side, more, or less?

Answer
Depends on the bike. Some bikes engage the arms, however, most do not. The bike isn't for toning up, really, it's a cardio exercise primarily. If you want to tone up, the best way to do that is to do some sort of strength training (our club calls it "Sculpt" class...there's also "body pump" or just working out on the machines, OR it's entirely possibly to do a strength routine at home with a set of handheld weights, and possibly an exercise ball). Strength training should be done 3 days per week, taking a day off in between to let the muscles repair.

Of course the bike helps to tone your legs, but honestly when I do spin, my upper body doesn't get any true toning at all.

15 min on Exercise bike?

k

Can I do 15 min on exercise bike 3 or 4 times a day ? Will that help lose weight or not ?

Answer
If your diet is OK, and if that's all you can do, then yes, it will help burn SOMETHING off. If you lose weight, it will be because of the diet(mostly). Of course it will help somewhat, but it won't do anything significant.

It depends too much on your current body for me to just write something off. How much do you weigh? How tall are you?

It CAN help a lot if your diet is good, and you weigh more than 220lbs, with more than 30% body fat.
But if you're just a regular person trying to lose some love handles, or some tummy fat, then doing this won't do much, and your diet will stand for most fat loss.

If you have any further in-depth questions, feel free to mail me, but make sure to explain everything as good as you can.
If you want some real exercise programs or routines, make sure to mail me and I can make sure you lose some serious weight(they are real, tough 2-3x/week programs/routines, though).

@joe714: That's only if it's done intense enough. Assuming that the person who asked this is like most people who go to the gym, he/she will be riding the bike at a medium pace. And the rest between the "times", considering he/she wrote 3-4x/day, can be hours, as long as he/she does it 3x/day.

So unless it's fast paced and with short rest periods, it really won't do much. It's the intensity of the workout which is the key, not the short duration. Please, read the study properly, or read a properly written study.

If you pit two people biking at moderate speed, the person riding the bike for the longest time will lose the most weight.
If you pit two people once again riding a bike, where one person does 5 intense bursts, but the other person rides for half an hour, or more, THEN we can see some good results in the person riding for the shortest duration of time.

How long should it take to bike 50 miles, and is it possible?

Well, i bike around 12-14 mph, but i don't think the exercise machine speed is accurate, but how long should it take me to bike 50 miles, if you have any idea? and is it possible to do it in one session?

Answer
In my experience, better quality exercise bikes track pretty well with outdoor as far as speed vs heart rate, so your 12-14 mph indoor should hold true outdoors.

How long does it take you to do 50 on the stationary bike? Can you do 50 non-stop indoors?

Is an exercise bike a good way of losing weight?

Claire

Answer
Calories Burned on an Exercise Bike

---> According to "Self" magazine, a 150-pound person burns 393 calories in an hour when riding a stationary bike at a light intensity. If that pace is stepped up to a moderate pace, that person burns 500 calories in an hour. If that person pushes the pace up to vigorous, she'll scorch 786 calories in an hour. When riding a stationary bike, you use the muscles attached to your tibia and femur to power the bike. The main muscles worked include your quadriceps, hamstrings and calf muscles.

---> Both a treadmill and an exercise bike provide an aerobic workout that burns calories and helps build lean muscle mass. Regular exercise on either of these machines strengthens your heart, increases endurance, strengthens bones, helps reduce body fat and improves balance and flexibility. Regardless of which machine you choose, the more intense the workout, the more calories you burn.

---> Working out at the right intensity is vital for burning calories and losing weight. To lose fat, you want to work out at a moderate exercise intensity that is between 50 to 70 percent of your maximum heart rate. To find your maximum heart rate, subtract your age from 220. According to the American College of Sports Medicine, you need 50 minutes of exercise five days a week to lose significant weight. To lose 1 pound of fat, you need to burn 3,500 more calories than you consume every week.

---> On a treadmill, a 160-pound person burns 606 calories in an hour at a pace of 5 miles per hour. At a faster pace of 8 miles per hour, the same person burns 861 calories in an hour. When you are using the treadmill, you work your quadriceps, hamstring, glutes, hip flexors and calf muscles.

if you have a lot of fat on you already will the stationary bike make you slimmer?

carlee

if your ver overweight and have a lot of leg fat would the stationary bike make them thinner no bulky?

Answer
The stationary bike is my favorite! I bought one over a year ago, after using it for about 3 months, I lost 30lbs! I just set it up in my living room & worked on the preset workout options on the bike. I started with the 20 minute work out and after a month of use, I was doing 40-60 minute rides almost everyday. I definitely would recommend doing at least a 5-10 minute warm up & cool down after the rides or your legs will kill you.

I also just bought some 5lbs dumbbells & looked up some shoulder/arm exercises online. I ate healthier, it's easier than you might think. After you start working out for a while, your body seems to lose some of its cravings. You don't have to get a fancy gym membership to lose some weight! Good luck & hope I helped! :)

Does 40 minutes of exercise everyday on a stationary bike would make you lose weight?

Cynthia

I am slightly chubby and so I wanted to cut off these few extra pounds and I was wondering if 40 minutes of exercise on a stationary bike would worth all the time that I will spend on it.

Answer
Yes, as long as you are eating enough. http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm find how many calories you need. Eat maintenance for days when you exercise, and fat loss (not extreme fat loss since too low amount of calories will stop weight loss) for days when you don't exercise. Get 30-45 min of exercise a day 5 days a week, 2 days rest. Eat healthy 5-6 days a week and the remaining days eat junk if you have to but still make sure you stay within calorie limits of maintenance. Also drink a lot of water.

Best affordable mountain bike?

cetm1990

So i really want to buy a mountain bike and go on trails (such as swamps and the woods) but first i need a bike! lol. im 6 ft tall and about 200 lbs. i want a bike that wont fall apart when taking it through intermediate trails and it would be nice if its not too heavy (so i can lift it up and hook on to my roof rack of my car) the puzzle here is, i dont want to spend more than $300 max! im not a professional nor do i plan to become one. this is mostly for exercise and leisure :)

Answer
$300 max? Through the swamps? Raise your spending limit or find a good used one on craigslist.

Seen a website called Bikes Direct.com? For slightly over $300 you could get one that fits the bill. You assemble the bike. Fast & free UPS shipping. No sales tax, except in Texas where they are based out of. I've linked a few below.

I am installing my iPad onto my stationary exercise bicycle. I would like to view videos of great bike rides around the world. I think it would be fantastic to ride my exercise bike while viewing a bike ride through France or New Zealand. Does anyone know of an iPad app that would supply world bike tour videos?

what is biking EXERCISE?

unique_ija

IM FROMINDIA I DONO WHT IS BIKING CAN ANY ONE EXPLAIN ME IN DETAIL

Answer
Biking exercise is Getting on your bike regularly not only gets you where you want to go faster than a car, it protects you against a wide range of ill health, and also makes you feel better.

Everyday cycling, where the exercise leaves you breathing heavily but not being out of breath is an effective and enjoyable form of aerobic exercise. This is the type of exercise that is most effective at promoting good health. For example, cycling reduces the risk of serious conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure, obesity and the most common form of diabetes.
One rough calculation suggests that new cyclists covering short distances can reduce their risk of death (mainly due to the reduction of heart disease) by as much as 22 per cent.

Which is better? Exercise bike or running/jogging?

Cay

Which one is better for cardio?
Is one better for losing weight or gaining muscle? (I preferably want to lose weight)
And yeah, just generally, which is the better option in terms of health and fitness?
Thanks!
And please, no more "magic bullet" or "quick fix" herbs and berries, etc. If I'm going to lose weight, it'll be through good old, tried-and-true exercise and diet.

Answer
If your knees are in good shape, running will help you lose weight faster as you would burn more calories than with biking. With running though you should begin a program where you increase your distance slowly day by day. Even walking then running in short spurts at first will help you gain strength. It's also a good idea to alternate your cardio with strength training on alternate days. By gaining more muscle, your metabolism and endurance will increase and your body will be more toned.
