How long should it take to bike 50 miles, and is it possible?

Well, i bike around 12-14 mph, but i don't think the exercise machine speed is accurate, but how long should it take me to bike 50 miles, if you have any idea? and is it possible to do it in one session?

Answer
In my experience, better quality exercise bikes track pretty well with outdoor as far as speed vs heart rate, so your 12-14 mph indoor should hold true outdoors.

How long does it take you to do 50 on the stationary bike? Can you do 50 non-stop indoors?

Is an exercise bike a good way of losing weight?

Answer
Calories Burned on an Exercise Bike

---> According to "Self" magazine, a 150-pound person burns 393 calories in an hour when riding a stationary bike at a light intensity. If that pace is stepped up to a moderate pace, that person burns 500 calories in an hour. If that person pushes the pace up to vigorous, she'll scorch 786 calories in an hour. When riding a stationary bike, you use the muscles attached to your tibia and femur to power the bike. The main muscles worked include your quadriceps, hamstrings and calf muscles.

---> Both a treadmill and an exercise bike provide an aerobic workout that burns calories and helps build lean muscle mass. Regular exercise on either of these machines strengthens your heart, increases endurance, strengthens bones, helps reduce body fat and improves balance and flexibility. Regardless of which machine you choose, the more intense the workout, the more calories you burn.

---> Working out at the right intensity is vital for burning calories and losing weight. To lose fat, you want to work out at a moderate exercise intensity that is between 50 to 70 percent of your maximum heart rate. To find your maximum heart rate, subtract your age from 220. According to the American College of Sports Medicine, you need 50 minutes of exercise five days a week to lose significant weight. To lose 1 pound of fat, you need to burn 3,500 more calories than you consume every week.

---> On a treadmill, a 160-pound person burns 606 calories in an hour at a pace of 5 miles per hour. At a faster pace of 8 miles per hour, the same person burns 861 calories in an hour. When you are using the treadmill, you work your quadriceps, hamstring, glutes, hip flexors and calf muscles.
