Exercising??????????

LiveLikeMu

I usually walk/run the treadmill for 4 miles on an incline for 70-80 minutes. If I go on a 6 mile bike ride for a little over an hour, and continure with my 1300 calorie diet with lots of water, should I see weight loss? I am trying to break my plateau. I need to lose 16 lbs by August 31st

Answer
you should see weight loss there, but attempt to speed up for 2-5 minutes and slow down for 8-10 minutes, go different speeds and different amounts and it will shock your body into more calories burned. Same with your bike ride. I recently read an article that stated that based on a scientific study.

also weight lift. do arms and core every other day, and legs in between. when your muscles are hurting a bit the next day (not painfully pulled, but a good hurt), your body is repairing them and you are burning extra calories just by sitting there! I got that tidbit from a personal trainer.

good luck.

How many minutes a day/or week should one spend on (a) an exercise bike and (b) a thread mill?

Please give me the ideal time to effectively lose weight over the next few months. Thank you.

Answer
i think a good goal for the week is 1000 calories burned at the gym. i go to the gym 5 days a week on most weeks and try for 3-400 calories each day i go in, just on machines. Then i actually work out. 300 calories is about 30 minutes. some people its more some people its less. 10 calories a minute is a good number. I heard in a health class in college that the body doesnt begin to burn fat until about 15-20 minutes into the work out. if you only go for 15 minutes you didnt really get much done. 5 days a week 30 min a day. eat healthy cut sugars and fats and you should look great in 6 weeks. good luck.
